Redefining Safety is a public video installation that brings together voices from across the city to answer that question in their own words. Created by filmmaker and artist Aaron Brokenbough in collaboration with PhillyCAM and the People’s Budget Office, this participatory project features unscripted video portraits recorded in LOVE Park and neighborhoods throughout the city.
From calls for better schools and mental health care to reflections on policing, housing, and belonging, Redefining Safety invites you to witness what safety looks and feels like—through the eyes of the people who live it every day.

Is My Living in Vain is a meditative film exploring the enduring legacy and emancipatory potential of the Black church as a site of diasporic belonging, spiritual affirmation, and community organizing. Through a rich tapestry of archival imagery, oral histories, and original 16mm footage shot on location, the film reflects on the church as a space of “infrapolitics”—a quieter, often unseen form of resistance.
The film draws sonic, spiritual, political, and existential connections between Black communities in West Philadelphia and Southeast London.
